Safeguarding
Bookham Badminton is a member of the Badminton Association of England and is committed to offering its members a safe environment in which to play badminton. We aim to comply with best practice and make our members aware of their responsibility to look out for other players. We have some junior members (U18) and have a specific policy for them.

U16 players will be required to have a parent or guardian present at all sessions.

The Bookham Badminton Welfare officer is:
Dave Seditas and can be contacted at dave@euro500.net or 07730 015 751.

The simple things that all members should look out for are as follows:
• Unexplained bruises, injuries or lack of medical attention when an injury is present
• Personal belongings or money going missing.
• No longer attending or no longer enjoying their sessions. - You may notice that a member of your club has been missing from sessions and is not responding to messages
• Weight gain, weight loss, an unkempt appearance or a deterioration in personal hygiene..
• A change in the behavior or confidence of a person.
• Self-harm.

Additional considerations for Junior members are as follows.
Do not:

• spend time alone with children and young people away from others
• use or allow children and young people to use inappropriate language unchallenged
• make sexually suggestive comments to a child or young person.
• fail to respond and report concerns when allegations/disclosures are made by a child or young person.
• make private telephone calls, texts, social network messages/contact and emails without parental consent or knowledge.

Please report any concerns to the Bookham Badminton Welfare officer:
